David Goggins, the ultra-endurance athlete and author of “Can’t Hurt Me,” once said that when you think you’ve hit your limit, you’re really only at 40% capacity.
40%! 🫣😫
That hit me like a left hook.
Goggins calls it the “40 Rule”, the idea that most of us live confined by self-imposed limitations. The good news is that for those of us who aren’t David Goggins, we still have an edge:
Each other.
There’s an African proverb that says:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
This truth came alive during this week’s training for the Ultra White Collar Boxing event happening on 14/06/2025. Over 25 of us had our first weigh-in, and next week we find out who we’ll be stepping into the ring with.
Today, it wasn’t about competition. It was about community.
Paired off in twos, we pushed through our drills, fuelled by nothing but encouragement, grit, and mutual respect.
Then came the final challenge: a gruelling group drill we’ve repeated weekly. Only this time, when we thought it was over, the coach said, “Again.”
We did it. Twice through. No holding back.
I didn’t think I had it in me, but I did. We all did.
Proof that Goggins was right: when your mind says “stop,” you’re not even halfway done.
So in his own words: “Stay hard.” 💪🏾🥊💨
I’m raising funds for two amazing UK charities doing impactful work in our communities. If you’re able to support, here are the Justgiving links:
