If you can cast your mind back to 1994, the soundtrack of the moment was Outkast's album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. There was a track, featuring a young Ceelo Green called, Git up, Git out, to use the Atlanta Georgia twang.
The last part of the hook was, “You need get up, get out, and get something, how will you make it if you never even try? You need to get up, get out, and get something 'cause you and I got to do for you and I.”
Such an inspiring idea. You have to do it for yourself, it won’t happen if you don’t even try!
As I write, I’m catching up on some of the events from Paris 2024. Men & Women’s 100m, 200m and Surfing finals.
Looking at the physiques of these athletes, I’m reminded of how much preparation, reps and resilience is required to compete at such an elite level. There’s pain, disappointment and defeat to be overcome, and even the best of the best are challenged by this.
Last week, I took part in a 35-minute fitness workout with my son and 2 days later my muscles were so stiff I struggled to do basic tasks including, washing my face. I pushed myself beyond what I would’ve on my own.
It really doesn’t matter what you do, solo, with a partner or a bigger team, just get up, get out and do something.
Let's Go,
Azibu
